Canadian models share same VIN as U.S. except that their sequence numbers start at 800000. It is also important to note that, in the U.S., positions 13-17 must be a number, whereas position 12 may be either a letter or a number.

VIN is the abbreviation of vehicle identification number. Automakers use it as a simple and reliable method of classification and accounting. Every vehicle has a unique VIN code.
